Firstly the island is just gorgeous with a really good mix of quiet beaches in the north and lovely restaurants in the main hub on the east. There is also great night life, but we never made it out past 10pm!
The villas are stunning. Each has its own pool and is immaculate, with fab outdoor bathrooms in some villas. It's all set in a lovely complex just 900m off the main street. It's a nicebike ride back after dinner. You can easily cycle (2 minutes) to the beaches at the north of the island to watch the beautiful sunset at Karma Kayak.
There's a recently opened tennis court and club house with a fantastic gym and the staff there are great. We chose to eat breakfast out there as it was lovely and peaceful in the mornings and we didn't like having it in the villa garden, but most people stayed in their villas. We extended our stay at Kelapa and are actually thinking of buying a villa there as we loved it so much!
Little Piece of Heaven
I stayed at the Kelapa Villas with my husband during our honeymoon. We were pleasantly surprised with all the facilities they offered in the middle of a tiny island where the villas are located, surrounded by coconut trees. The staff was more than friendly and helpful offering us 100% of their time. They organized for us a great BBQ with fresh fish and wine and lots of attention.
The swimming pool was clean as were the rooms and we had all the intimacy we needed. Breakfast was included in the villa price and also bikes to go around the island (cars are not allowed on Gili).
We enjoyed very much our stay there and it truly felt like a little piece of heaven.
